Mateus Rose's origins date back to 1942, when Fernando van Zeller Guedes created and launched an entirely new concept - a wine with a strong personality and unique flavour presented in an original and innovative bottle. These elements combined and together became strong brand properties of Mateus and quickly made it known and enjoyed worldwide. A powerful brand had been born. Mateus's distinctive bottle was inspired by the flasks used by soldiers during World War I. Mateus Rose is a truly global brand that can be said to be a citizen of the world, recognised and enjoyed in the remotest places and adapting itself to different tastes and cultures.
