Italy

Italy stands for many things, but in wine terms can be possibly summarised as diversity and choice. With a land mass
about the size of the British Isles, long and thin (apart from the flood plains in the north), laid out broadly north to south, the Italian ‘boot’ is bordered by seas to the east and west that moderate the temperature and with plenty of hill sides to vary the aspect of the vineyards, it probably has more micro climates than anywhere in the world.
The average vineyard is still about one hectare and the range of varieties planted is virtually endless. There is far more to Italy to explore and discover than just the humble, albeit super popular, Pinot Grigio!
