Australia remains No1 for the UK consumer, despite seeing more press activity than ever before focusing on the negative issues within their industry. There have been a number of stories from down under on the issues of lack of water, price fluctuations and a seemingly constant flux from over to under supply. In the UK trade this was reflected in a move away from the very basic wines as this level came under growing pressures, and Australia lost ground in the On Trade to those countries in the New World still able to hit the required price points.
